"Virtuosity is not so very uncommon these days, but warmth of expression is as rare as ever. The Canteloube Trio possess both these qualities, and their performances are a delight to hear." Neil Black OBE, Oboist, London Wind Trio
Canteloube Trio was formed in 2003 and its members are graduates of the Royal College of Music who combine careers in chamber and orchestral work as well as education and outreach work.
The group was formed with the aim of exploring the repertoire for wind trio and is particularly interested in new music for the ensemble. As well as performing as chamber musicians, members of the group regularly perform and tour with some of the country's leading professional orchestras and ensembles. Canteloube Trio performs together in recitals and functions across the country, as well as working with projects in music outreach and education.
Highlights for the trio have included gaining a scholarship place to attend a Tunnell Trust chamber music course in Strathgarry, where the group gave several concert performances. Recent engagements in the south of England have also seen the group earn critical acclaim. Forthcoming engagements include recitals throughout the UK, including two world premier performances of works written especially for the ensemble, as well as a concert tour in Scotland in early 2009.
"Canteloube responded flawlessly to the challenge, with performances which were impeccably detailed, though still totally spontaneous.." Philip R Buttall, Plymouth Herald |
